I always forget how much we do until I look back at photos and videos. We shared in the joy of the birth of our newest nephew, Landon. We cheered as we watched Madeline take the big stage at her first dance competition. We celebrated as Madeline turned FIVE. We cried happy tears as we watched her graduate from pre-k. We mourned the loss of Patrick’s dad. We cried bittersweet tears as Madeline started kindergarten. We celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary. We had a lot of fun with friends and family. We watched a lot of dance (sometimes we joined in). We played a lot (often at Worlds of Fun). We laughed more than we cried. It was a beautiful, busy, often overwhelming, amazingly wonderful year. I’m sure this next year and next decade will hold lots of ups and downs, but the one thing I am certain of is that with Patrick and Madeline by my side, it will always be beautiful.
