I spent this past weekend with over 600 middle school students. And can I just say that I have not had that much fun in years. This was the first time that I have gone on a youth retreat as an adult leader. I’ve gone several times as a student, but this time I was supposed to be the responsible one. Everyone I talked to thought I had lost my mind when I told them that I had volunteered with the middle schoolers at my church, and then when I said I was going on this trip they knew for sure that I was crazy. I’m not sure what it is about that middle school age group that seems to scare people so much, but I just have to say that these middle schoolers that I just spent the weekend with are some of the most ambitious, talented, intelligent, and enthusiastic people that I have ever met in my life. These kids young adults are going to change the world – of that I am certain.
I am happy to hear that you appreciate the intelligence of the youth. Most adults overlook them as immature which really irritates me! I am 23 myself.
