Just a Reminder – You may see this again

In September, I’ll be walking in two equally important fundraising walks.  The first one is the Light the Night Walk on September 15th and then there is the Walk for Diabetes on September 23rd.  My heart is really into both of these, and it is because of this that I come to you, my readers (though you may be few), to help me by sponsoring me in one of the walks.  My goal is to raise $150 in each walk and I can’t do it without your support.  Pick the one you feel the most connected to or be generous and donate to both (even $5.00 helps).  Just please consider donating to one or to both.  They are both horrible disease that have played an ugly role in my family, and anything I can do to help them get closer to a cure – I am all for doing.

Light the Night

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night® Walk is to raise funds to help fight cancer. The Society is the world’s largest voluntary health organization dedicated to funding blood cancer research and providing education and patient services.

 Why I Walk

I walk in honor of my four year old cousin who at two was diagnosed with Leukemia.  He is currently cancer free and for that we are thankful.
I walk in honor of him, but also for all of those that I met while visiting him at the hospital – those that were not as fortunate as he.
I  walk for the little girl with the purple bracelets that lost her battle.  I still have my bracelet and I will wear it on the 15th of September.
I walk because I lost my grandfather to cancer.  I lost my great aunt.  I lost my great uncle, another great aunt, and more all to different forms of cancer.  Cancer is ugly and evil.
I walk because three years ago they thought I had Lymphoma and that was enough to make me want them to find a cure immediately.
For them I walk and  I hope and pray that by doing so I can some how help those that are fighting so hard to find a cure for this horrible disease.

 Walk for Diabetes

The ADA’s Walk for Diabetes is America’s premier walking event to benefit the American Diabetes Association—and the 20.8 million American adults and children who cope with type 1 and type 2 diabetes every day.

Why I Walk

I walk because in 2004 my grandmother died due to complications from her Type 1 diabetes.
I walk because my mother has Type 2.
I walk because over half of my adult family members have been diagnosed with either Type 1 or Type 2.
I walk because I hate this disease.
I walk because I don’t want to have to see another family go through what mine has.
I walk because I don’t want my family to go through it again.
For these reasons I walk.

Please sponsor me. By doing so, we’ll both be helping save lives.
For more information, to sponsor me, or to register yourself as a walker simply click on either one of the graphics above or the ones to the right of this page.

Thanks for your support.

  1. I would love to sponser you but I don’t have a credit card of my own. I have Pay pal account that is linked to a bank account or something (my dad is a banker and he did something handy with his powers with money) so I would have to ask him if I can donate. I will do something. A close friend of mine has Type I diabetes. Good for you for walking! You get a hug! *hug*

  2. This is certainly a good thing you are doing and it will surely help a lot of people. I myself would register as a walker, but I am not living in the US…
