Snow Day

As I look out the window,
I see the snow slowly beings to fall,
and I wish for a change…

The snow is beginning
to make a quilt of lace
upon the frozen ground;
the camellias seem frozen in time…
I think I’m tired of the artificial, the smile,
and the false laugh.

I step outside,
I’m tired of this ache.

I miss the days of my childhood,
careless days –
innocence pure as the freshly laid snow.

Most of all
I miss days with you.

Arms wrapped tightly –
fingers caressing;
watching the snow fall
from the comfort of your bed.

I long for that…
Now the snow
is just cold.
